GALLERY: Mountie injured in rollover crash in Surrey

An RCMP officer has been injured after a collision with another vehicle in Surrey Friday afternoon, according to Mounties.

Emergency crews shut down the intersection of King George Boulevard and 108 Avenue to investigate the crash that caused the police cruiser to roll over on its roof at around 1:15 p.m.

Mounties said they believe the marked cruiser with lights and sirens on was travelling through the intersection when it was struck by a white Honda sedan.

The crash caused the police vehicle to flip on its roof, trapping a male officer inside.

A third vehicle was subsequently hit.

A Mountie was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and the occupants of the Honda suffered minor injuries. The driver of the third vehicle was uninjured.

Traffic in the area is expected to be backed up until Friday evening as the investigation continues. Drivers are urged to avoid the area.
