PILOT BUTTE, Sask. – Saskatchewan RCMP say they fired a Taser at a man but it didn’t work.

Mounties say they were called to a home in Pilot Butte, Sask., on Thursday morning to a call of a distraught man who had weapons.

Crisis negotiators, a police dog unit and the Emergency Response Team were all called in.

About 10:30 a.m., a man emerged holding a knife to his own neck.

That’s when an officer fired a Taser at him, but when it didn’t work they continued negotiating with him.

The man was eventually taken into custody and moved to Regina for a health assessment.
