WHL Commissioner Ron Robison celebrated the start of playoff action in Kelowna.

The Rockets earned the league leading Scotty Munro trophy, by ending the regular season with a record breaking 57 wins.

Robison called the Rockets “a model organization, not only in the WHL, but in the CHL”.

Two Rockets players were also singled out for individual honours.  16 year old center, Nick Merkley is this season’s western conference rookie of the year, while Jordon Cook is the western conference goaltender of the year.

The GM for the Tri City American’s was also on hand for the series preview in Kelowna.  Bob Tory admitted that Tri-City has a hard fight ahead.

“We will show up, and play with a lot of passion, a lot of pride”, Tory said, “but make no mistake, this is David and Goliath.”
