KELOWNA — A guilty plea to prohibited driving must have slipped a 56-year-old Kelowna man’s mind Wednesday as according to RCMP he decided to get in his vehicle and drive away from the courthouse minutes later.
He was pulled over by police and upon further inspection RCMP determined his Ford pickup was also uninsured.
The man was initially sentenced to a one year driving prohibition, but has now had his vehicle impounded for a minimum of seven days and fined $598.
According to police, he’ll likely be without his own wheels for a while, as he needs valid insurance to retrieve the truck from impound which won’t be easy with a driving prohibition.
The 56-year-old also faces a potential charge of Driving While Prohibited and is scheduled to appear in court on May 29th.
