SASKATOON – The mother of a Saskatoon boy who suffered a fractured skull after a vicious beating outside a city high school says her son’s recovery is miraculous.
Kyron Sollosy, 15, is back home after spending 18 days in pediatric intensive care following the Feb. 25 attack while the teen was having a smoke outside Bishop Murray High School.
Doctors had given the hockey player and bull rider a 10 per cent chance of living and a 95 per cent chance of being left brain-damaged but his mom, Rebecca Sollosy, says he appears to be fine, despite losing half his hearing.
She says her son believes he was ambushed by someone armed with a baseball bat that had a sharp object on the end of it.
Family members said Kyron had talked on Facebook with his attackers about potentially fighting, but he was not expecting it to happen the day after the online exchange.
No arrests have been made and police continue to investigate.
