UPDATE: Who will replace Mayor Walter Gray?

UPDATE: Former Kelowna Mayor, Sharon Shepherd, who was defeated by Gray in 2011, says she has not made any decisions to consider throwing her name in the ring, but that she’s not ruling it out either.  Shepherd says she’d prefer to take several more months to assess her family’s needs before announcing any plans to return to Kelowna City Council. Current councillors Gail Given and Colin Basran confirmed they are considering running.

KELOWNA — Kelowna mayor Walter Gray says this is his last term.

Gray, 73, has informed council that he will not be seeking re-election – opening the door for at least two councilors who have stated they would consider running for mayor if Gray stepped down.  Councillors Gail Given and Colin Basran have yet to make it official.

Gray says it’s time for him to go and that he wants to spend more time with his family travelling the world while he and his wife Doreen are still healthy.
