WATCH: Coquitlam Search and Rescue spent hours looking for two lost women at Buntzen Lake last night. The pair set out yesterday, but soon found themselves knee-deep in snow. Tanya Beja has the details.

It took more than five hours to find them and many more hours to bring them out of the forest, but volunteers from Coquitlam Search and Rescue have rescued two lost hikers near Buntzen lake.

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

The two women, 22 and 24 in age, got lost at Eagle Ridge, where snow and winter conditions persist. They started their hike at Swan Falls around 10:30 on Tuesday morning.

The women alerted SAR about getting lost around 7:40 p.m. Search crews made contact with them around 3 in the morning.

A helicopter could not fly because of bad weather, so search crews had to hike to where the pair was.

The hikers are not injured, but were not prepared to spend the night outside.

They were 1.5 kilometers off the trial in knee-deep snow when they were found.

Five SAR members took them out and other than being very cold and very tired, the two are fine.
