SASKATOON – A man is facing a number of charges after leading Saskatoon police on a chase Tuesday evening.

The chase started around 9 p.m. when officers attempted to pull over a car on Confederation Drive. The driver refused to pull over and headed northbound up the street, eventually hitting another vehicle.

The impact of the crash caused the engine of the suspect’s car to catch on fire. The driver turned onto 33rd Street where he and a passenger jumped out and fled on foot before the car rolled into a transit bus.

The 39-year-old Saskatoon man was tracked down to a nearby house. He is charged with two counts of evading police, hit and run, uttering threats, breach of probation and a number of traffic violations.

He was also wanted for evading police after running a red light on Monday near Idylwyld Drive and Jamieson Street to escape capture.
