Police probe drive-by shooting in Monterey Park

CALGARY – Police are investigating after shots were fired at a house in the neighbourhood of Monterey Park on Friday – but it’s not the first time the home has been targeted.

Officers rushed to 87 Del Ray Crescent N.E. just after 2 a.m.

The shots damaged the exterior of the home, but didn’t hurt anyone who was inside at the time.

Police say they are searching for a vehicle thought to be used in the attack, but don’t have a description of it at this point.

It’s not the first time shots have been fired at this particular home.

Back in 2012, police were called to the same house after it was peppered with bullets while three people were inside. The same home was also vandalized in 2010 – someone spray-painted “your dead (sic)” on the garage door.

Neighbours say the current occupants are the same people who lived at the residence in 2012 and 2010, and allege the attack may have been targeting their teenage son.

“I grabbed the phone and hit the floor and dialed 911,” says neighbour Deb. She and her husband heard five gunshots.

Nearby resident Charlene Howe says her family is moving because of concerns over their safety.

“I have small children, this isn’t safe for them,” explains Howe. “It’s really scary.”
