WATCH: Canucks fans sing an ‘Ode to Luongo’, a Beatles parody

Mike Parkerson and his fiance Stacey Roy spent a good portion of last weekend making a video dedicated to a former Vancouver Canucks player.

Called Hey Lou, the song and video is a tribute to goalie Roberto Luongo, and uses the tune of the famous Beatles song Hey Jude.

Parkerson and Roy, who form the duo PR WhaBam, have made a few YouTube videos over the past year, but this is their first foray into a sports or Canucks-related venture.

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

“At the end of the day, who doesn’t love Lu?” said Parkerson of the idea behind it.

“He was the heart and soul of Vancouver for the past eight years.”

With the help of the Vancouver-based comedy group, IFHT, Parkerson recruited local musician Abandon Paris to sing the song, and some friends to appear in the video.

Parkerson and Roy are both loyal Canucks fans, and even though they may have lost Luongo, Parkerson said all is not lost for the team.

“It sucks,” he said of the current situation, “but everything goes through ups and downs.”

“We’re not an exception to a losing streak.”
