UPDATE: One man has died after he was buried by an avalanche near Nelson, B.C.
The 29-year-old man from Crawford Bay, was snowmobiling with another local in Gray Creek Pass on the east side of Kootenay Lake.
The avalanche happened around 3:30 p.m. and Nelson and Kimberley Search and Rescue both responded with helicopters.
The man who survived was able to avoid the avalanche and made the 911 call.

Nelson and Kimberley Search and Rescue are on scene and have recovered one person, but his condition is not known at this time.
The avalanche happened around 3:30 on Tuesday afternoon.
The two snowmobilers are both believed to be locals.
