SASKATOON – A Saskatoon man who had been accused of sexually assaulting a 22-year-old disabled woman has pleaded guilty instead to assault causing bodily harm.
Thirty-eight-year-old Wallace Thomas admitted to approaching the woman on a city bus back in May 2012, and taking her first to a park and then to his home.
Crown prosecutor Jennifer Claxton-Viczko says there’s evidence Thomas may have believed he had the woman’s consent.
In a joint sentencing submission to Judge Gerald Albright, Claxton-Viczko also said the Crown wanted to spare the woman from the trauma of testifying further.
