EDMONTON – The Edmonton Police Service (EPS) says officers are questioning upwards of 20 people after shots were fired at a house in the city’s north end.

Police were called to a home in the area of 118 Avenue and 69 Street around 5:00 a.m. Saturday, after receiving numerous calls of shots fired.

“As police were pouring into the area we had additional reports of numerous vehicles and people scattering — both on foot and in the vehicles — from this house,” said EPS Duty Officer Brian Nowlan.

Nowlan says officers were able to speak with about 15 people who confirmed there were at least two shots fired.

Once inside the house, officers say they found a significant amount of blood on one of the doors. However, Nowlan says they were not able to find anyone who was injured.

“What we’re left with is a number of individuals — upwards of 20 people right now — the majority of which are uncooperative, not giving us any information whatsoever,” he said. “So far all we’ve got is a couple of spent casings and some blood and no explanation.”

Police have contacted area hospitals to be on the lookout for anyone who may come in with gunshot injuries.

The people in question have since been released from police custody.

Officers are asking anyone with information to contact the EPS at 780-423-4567.

At this time no charges have been laid.
