Man behind West End stabbing attack found not criminally responsible

A man who went on a stabbing spree at a Vancouver apartment complex last year has been found not criminally responsible for his actions.

Jerome Bonneric’s lawyer says the man suffers from major depression and psychotic episodes.

Bonneric will be staying in a forensic psychiatric hospital with a first review board meeting in 45 days.

Seven of Bonneric’s neighbours were stabbed with a kitchen knife, but no one was killed in the building on Barclay Street.

He was charged with four counts of aggravated assault, four counts of assault with a weapon, three counts of common assault and one count of assaulting an officer after the rampage.
