Police bust Harvest Hills grow-op

CALGARY – Police have charged two women after seizing over 700 marijuana plants from a home in Harvest Hills.

Officers found a three-stage grow op in the home when they searched it on February 25th, with over $900,000 worth of marijuana and growing equipment.

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

“Based on the presence of mould in the home, it would appear this grow-op has been in operation for some time,” said Sgt. Len Dalton. “People underestimate the damage grow-ops can do to a home. Besides mould, there are fire risks, electrical issues, and crime-related violence.”

The home has since been deemed unfit for human habitation.

Police have charged 50-year-old Tan Le and 49-year-old Thuy Nguyen with production of marijuana and possession for marijuana for the purpose of trafficking.
