ABOVE: The wind chill warning may have ended, but Toronto residents are still in for a cold week
TORONTO – A wind chill warning has ended for Southern Ontario as a cold front finally moved its way through the region today.
Environment Canada says the temperature will gradually warm up throughout the morning hours and into the afternoon.
People are being reminded that frostbite and hypothermia will occur if adequate precautions are not taken when outdoors.
Toronto’s high is expected to reach -11 with a low tonight of -17.
The City of Toronto also remains under an Extreme Cold Weather Alert as frigid temperatures continue across the city.
An alert is called when there’s increased danger to homeless people in Toronto due to extreme winter weather conditions. Environment Canada says temperatures will fall to -22 degrees Celsius Sunday night, but it will feel like -30 with the wind chill.

During an extreme cold alert shelters are directed to relax service restrictions and allow people to remain at the shelter if a bed is not available until one can be found elsewhere.
Overnight street outreach programs will also be increased the downtown core, focusing on warning people of the danger of the cold and urging them to go to a shelter or some warm, indoor place.
Officials say the alert is in effect until further notice.
