MOOSE JAW, Sask. – Two Saskatchewan Olympians are back in their home province after Sochi, hoping to share some of their experiences with younger athletes.
The Saskatchewan Stars on Ice bursary ice show was held on Saturday night at the Barkman Arena in Caronport, Saskatchewan and featured 2014 Olympic competitors – Paige Lawrence and Rudi Swiegers.
The figure skating pair from Kipling signed autographs and shared some wisdom with fans at the Pla-Mor Palace lobby in Moose Jaw around noon.
“Just because you’re from a small town, just because it might not appear as easy, it’s still possible and I think that’s the biggest thing. Believe in yourself and work hard and you can do anything,” said Laurence.
In Russia, they placed 13th in the pairs short program and 14th in pairs free skating.
They have been skating together since 2005.
