Recipes: Popular Nutella recipes from De Dutch

Joey Biamonte and Mike Prince from De Dutch prepared two Nutella popular recipes from their menu. All of the restaurant chain’s locations are opening their doors until 8 p.m. Tuesday March 4 for Pannekoek Tuesday. $2 from every pannekoek sold will be donated to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation.

Recipes: 

Tostie Nutella Walnut (Pear OR Banana option)

Ingredients

2 SLICES WHOLE GRAINr

OR SOUR DOUGH BREAD

SOFTENED BUTTER

1 HEAPING SOUP SPOON

NUTELLA

1/4 CUP CHOPPED WALNUTS

1/4 PEAR SLICED THIN

or

1/2 BANANA SLICED

SHAKE OF CINNAMON SUGAR

SIDE OF CHOICE

Preparation

–         Evenly spread Nutella on both sides of the bread. Easy way to do this is to spread Nutella on one slice of the bread then sandwich bread together and “smoosh” together so both sides are evenly covered.

–         Spread a liberal amount of softened butter on other side of both slices of bread. Place butter side down on grill.

–         Slice the pear thin into 6 pieces OR slice banana and chop the walnuts.

–        Cook both on grill in a bit of butter until the pear OR banana are lightly brown and walnuts are lightly toasted, then add to one side of bread.

KEY COOKING POINT:

Let cook until well toasted. Both sides of the bread must be golden brown and crispy.

Close sandwich and give a standard shake of cinnamon sugar mix.

Plating

–        Cut sandwich into 3, by making a “V” like cut. Place sandwich on corner of red and white checker paper, wrap sandwich, skewer with wooden skewer and place in a hash boat.

–         Place sandwich boat on 12″ oval platter and serve with side of choice.

French Toast Stuffed with Nutellla and Banana.

Ingredients

2 SLICES THICK SLICED FRENCH BREAD

4 OUNCES OF OMELETTE MIX

1 HEAPING SOUP SPOON OF NUTELLA

HALF BANANA SLICED

CINNAMON SUGAR& ICING SUGAR

1 OUNCE DISH WHIPPED CREAM

1 OUNCE DISH STRAWBERRY TOPPING

Preparation

–         Evenly spread Nutella on both sides of the bread. Easy way to do this is to spread Nutella on one slice of the bread then sandwich bread together and “smoosh” together so both sides are evenly covered.

–        Slice banana place on one side of bread and close the sandwich.

–        Measure omelette mix into small mixing bowl, coat both sides of sandwich and place on a well-oiled grill.

–        Brown both sides and remove.

Plating

–        Cut in half and place 1 slightly on top of the other on a 12″ oval platter.

–        Sprinkle with cinnamon sugar and icing sugar.-

–        Place 1 oz toppers of Whipped Cream and Strawberry Topping on the plate.
