SASKATOON – Firefighters battled extreme cold to extinguish a Saskatoon house fire on Saturday morning.

Around 4:30 a.m., Saskatoon Fire and Protective Services responded to a call at 1228 Idylwyld Drive North.

Fire crews witnessed smoke coming from the house when they arrived and quickly began attacking the blaze.

The home’s floor system was weakened by the fire forcing crews to withdraw and attack the fire from the rear of the house.

The temperature was around minus 35 with a wind chill of minus 49 this morning.

No injuries were reported.

A fire investigator is on scene to determine the cause of the fire.
