Three Calgary schools to receive flood mitigation money

WATCH: Jill Croteau reports on flood mitigation in High River.

CALGARY – The province says three local schools are eligible for millions of dollars in funding to help prevent future flooding.

The money would support measures not covered by insurance, like landscaping and site remediation – or installation of flood-proof doors and windows.

The Redford government announced on Monday that eight schools in the province can apply for up to $2.5 million each, for flood mitigation projects.

Flood-damaged schools and sites eligible for mitigation funding:

Calgary

Elbow Park School

Rideau Park School

St. Mary’s School
