Hoping to keep her memory and legacy alive, the friends, and former teammates, of Mandi Schwartz held a bone marrow drive on the Yale campus on Thursday.
The Yale women’s hockey team has been joined by the football and field hockey team to hold the bone marrow drives. Nearly 900 new people signed up for the “Be The Match” registry, bringing the total to more than 1,600 signed up in Mandi’s name.
Donors found in these drives have already provided at least six genetic matches for patients in need of transplants.
Schwartz died April 3rd, 2011, after a two year battle with leukemia. Her parents and fiancé were by her side.
