SASKATOON – The Oakland Raiders announced the signing of former Saskatchewan Roughriders running back Kory Sheets on Wednesday.

Sheets entered the National Football League (NFL) as an undrafted free agent with the San Francisco 49er’s in 2009 before playing two games with the Miami Dolphins.

After being waived by the Dolphins, the 5’11”, 208 pound, Manchester, Conn. native spent time on the practice squad of the Carolina Panthers in 2011.

Following his first NFL stint, Sheets played two seasons with the Roughriders in the Canadian Football League (CFL) from 2012-13.

In his two years in the CFL, he totalled 2,875 rushing yards and scored 23 touchdowns during the regular season.

Sheets was named the 2013 Grey Cup Most Valuable Player (MVP) after a victory over the Hamilton Ticats in November, 2013 at Regina’s Mosaic Stadium.

His former Rider teammate Weston Dressler signed with the Kansas City Chiefs earlier this month.
