TORONTO – After a hot start on the first day of medal competition Saturday, Canadian hopes cooled a little on Sunday.

The Canadian figure skating team won silver in the first-ever team figure skating competition at the winter games. But there was disappointment on the slopes as Spencer O’Brien, the 2013 world champion in women’s slopestyle snowboarding, finished last in the 12-woman final.

In men’s downhill skiing, Eric Guay – an outside hope for a medal – finished 10th.
