If you don’t see any police around, so you think it’s okay to make a quick call on your hand-held cellphone while sitting in traffic, look again.
A passenger in the bus stopped in the next lane could be watching your every move.
Victoria Police are launching a new program today, using teams of officers aboard buses, watching for distracted drivers — and from their vantage point, those officers can see right inside your car, spotting that cellphone lying on your lap.
The bus busts are the latest unique method used to ensure safety on Victoria roads — other methods include officers dressed in casual clothes standing in traffic medians to identify violators, and officers dressed as construction zone flaggers.
