Video: 66-year-old weather record broken in Vancouver

A 66-year-old record was broken in Vancouver Thursday morning.

At the Vancouver Airport, the temperature dipped to -8.4 degrees Celsius, edging the old record of -7.8 degrees Celsius for February 6, set in 1948.

According to Global Meteorologist Mark Madryga, frigid weather is covering all of Western Canada today, and will last for several more.

It is -32 degrees Celsius in Prince George and also the Cariboo, which Madryga says is close to record cold there for this date as well.

In the Fraser Valley, the temperature was -7 degrees Celsius this morning, but with the wind blowing it felt more like -15 degrees Celsius.
