Vancouver businesses commemorate Chinese New Year with special products

With Chinese New Year just around the corner, Metro Vancouver businesses have introduced products and specials to commemorate the Lunar New Year.

Starbucks is temporarily brewing a latte inspired by a popular beverage from the chain in China. The Blossoming Peach Tea is a blend of Earl Grey tea, steamed milk, whipped cream and peace blossom sugar sprinkles. In Canada, you can only find it in Vancouver and Toronto.

Starbucks is not the only business cashing in on Chinese New Year.  Kit Kat has a special edition orange flavoured chocolate bar, complete with a slot for the traditional red pockets filled with money given out to celebrate the new year.

Vancouver bakery Sugar is also baking special Year of the Horse cookies.

“I think that Chinese New Year is just becoming something that you see everywhere especially in the Lower Mainland, everybody loves to embrace other cultures and celebrate,” said Angela Rodenburgh from Sugar.
