Rob Ford ends strange week with tour of building

TORONTO – It’s been another strange week for Mayor Rob Ford – his missteps earning him a question on Jeopardy.

“In 2013 Rob Ford, mayor of this 4th-largest city in N. America, first said he smoked weed, not crack…then yes, ok, crack, too,” host Alex Trebak read.

A contestant replied “What is Toronto?” for the $800 question.

It’s something he wasn’t interested in talking about Friday as he toured an apartment building in Toronto. The mayor had received several complaints about 40 Stevenson Road.  After taking a look, he said he was concerned by a number of the things he saw from leaks, to open garbage chutes and doors without handles.

While answering questions about his tour of the building outside, he laughed off a question about whether $800 “was enough” for a question about him on Jeopardy and then walked away from reporters who began asking him how we got home after going to the Steak Queen Monday and what he was doing with alleged drug trafficker and extortionist Sandro Lisi.

The mayor has been ignoring most questions about his trip to the fast food restaurant in Rexdale since a video showing him speaking Jamaican patois surfaced on YouTube on Tuesday.

During a Wednesday afternoon press conference the mayor called the incident “a minor setback” and that what he does in his personal time is his own business.

“I’m entitled to a personal life and my personal life does not interfere with the work I do day in and day out for the taxpayers of this great city,” he said Wednesday. “Monday was unfortunate, I had a minor setback. We all experience these difficult bumps in life.”
