Morinville RCMP say an eight-year-old was involved in a pedestrian collision Thursday morning. File / Global News

CALGARY- A crash near Sylvan Lake on Thursday morning killed one person, and sent two others to hospital.

Around 8 a.m., RCMP were called to Highway 20 between Asplund and Rainy Creek Road. When they arrived, they found a Ford Ranger and a GMC Yukon that had collided.

The two people inside the Yukon were pulled out with the help of fire crews, and rushed to hospital with serious but non life-threatening injuries.

However, the driver of the Ford Ranger died at the scene.

An investigation is now underway, and a witness said it appeared the Ranger lost control just moments before the crash. Road conditions were slippery at the time.

Alcohol is not considered a factor.
