REGINA – Canada’s largest pipeline operator says that cleanup of an oil spill at a pumping station south of Regina should be completed this weekend.
A leak at Enbridge Pipelines Inc.’s Rowatt Station Saturday morning spilled up to 125 barrels of crude oil, most of which was contained to the pumping station site.
However, the company says that high winds resulted in some spray landing on a nearby farm field.
First responders, provincial officials, and national regulators were all notified of the spill. The National Energy Board (NEB) said in a statement that there are no safety concerns for local residents.
A statement issued by Enbridge says the spill has had no impact on surrounding wildlife or waterways and that cleanup is expected to be completed by the end of the weekend.
A portion of the pipeline (Line 67) was shut down after the leak was reported, but was restarted later in the day.
