Imagine the entire world being powered by solar energy, harnessed thousands of kilometres away from Earth. Coming up in Connected Life, tech expert Bradley Shende explains a Japanese company’s plan to build a solar plant on the moon. If constructed, it would be 11,000km long and 400km wide.

Dine Out Vancouver is taking place at more than 200 restaurants and cafes across the city until February 2nd. Executive Chef Lee Parsons from Bacchus Restaurant and Hotel is giving us a taste of his $38 three course menu during our Saturday Chef segment. He’s making pan-seared Discovery Pass Keta salmon with preserved lemon, green pea and arugula risotto.

It’s been quite mild on the South Coast this week and lots of gardeners are already seeing spring bulbs sprouting. Though Spring is more than two months away, Gardenworks’ Scott Pearce is trying to coax the season to come early with a planter full of flowers to brighten up your porch or patio area.

Hot cocoa lovers have until Valentine’s Day to try out the more than 60 flavours offered during the fourth annual Hot Chocolate Festival. This year, patrons can visit more than two dozen locations around Metro Vancouver to sip some of the concoctions entrants have come up with. Though the full list features hotels around the world, Claire focuses on some of the top 10 destinations that are easiest to access from Vancouver.
