WATCH: Kayaker has close encounter with humpback whale

Berthold Hinrichs was kayaking in Senja, Norway on January 10 among a group of humpback whales when one of the whales surfaced directly beneath him.

Berthold explains how he found himself sitting on the whale’s back, “They were hunting herring and they are very careful not to harm you, one humpback came up just beside me, and then I was completely on the back of him.”

Berthold escaped unharmed and with a great video to show.
