WINNIPEG – Winnipeg police have arrested a man for second-degree murder in the case of Robert “Bobby” Thomson, who went missing on July 21, 2012.

Tanner James Prevost, 21, was arrested while in custody on an unrelated manner.

Thomson, 21, was last seen with a man and a woman at the Osborne Village Liquor Mart at 469 River Ave.

The three purchased alcohol and went to drink it near the Assiniboine River, police said Tuesday.

Police allege Thomson and Prevost got in a fight and the altercation ended with Thomson being dumped in the river before Prevost fled.

Thomson’s father spoke about the case at a news conference on Nov. 28, 2013.

“Somebody knows where Bobby is. We all know he didn’t disappear. Sombody knows what’s happened to him, and we need to find him so we can have closure,” Robert Thomson Sr. said in November as he struggled to hold back tears.
