Mistletoe drone delivers high flying Christmas cheer

TORONTO – There is no better way to spark a holiday romance than by a mistletoe-toting drone; at least that what one San Francisco area artist believes.

George Zisiadis posted the quirky Christmas-themed video to his YouTube page Tuesday in hopes to spread some holiday cheer while dismissing some of the paranoia surrounding drones.

“My artwork is about playfully re-imagining the world around us. Drones have been causing all sorts of paranoia lately and I wanted to reframe them from being something scary and ominous to be being fun and human,” Zisiadis told Global News via email.

The video shows unsuspecting couples embracing as the drone hovers above them – decked out in tinsel and two sprigs of mistletoe.

“The people in Union Square loved it,” said Zisiadis.

“It immediately sparked their playfulness and soon people were lining up to kiss. It transformed the plaza into a incredible scene of people showing love and affection for each other. The world can always use more of that.”
