KELOWNA — It seems not everyone appreciates an extravagant holiday light display.
A rooftop singing Christmas tree is causing a stir in a Rutland neighbourhood.
The singing tree and all of the lights and decorations that adorn this Rutland townhouse have at least one neighbour upset.
She didn’t want to talk to Global News, but according to the couple who put up this Houghton Rd. display, the disgruntled neighbour has called by-law officers and the police.
The neighbour complained she couldn’t hear her TV over the music.
RCMP told the couple to turn the music down or face several hundred dollars in fines.
They complied by putting duct tape over the speakers, but say they won’t shut it down completely.
“My boyfriend wanted to have a Christmas wonderland in the backyard to have and she doesn’t like it, I think she’s the Grinch,” says the homeowner’s girlfriend, Chrissy Kasper.
Kasper says the music is on between 10 a.m and 8 p.m.
We attempted to speak to two neighbours but neither would go on camera.
