Victim of Burnaby homicide identified as 61-year-old woman, known to police

UPDATE December 4: RCMP say the victim of Monday’s homicide in Burnaby has been identified as 61-year-old Christina Docherty.

RCMP say Docherty is known to them.

“Ms. Docherty was known to police and investigators believe that this was a targeted incident. Investigators are in the process of establishing a motive for this case. We are asking anyone who may have information about this case to please come forward.” says Cpl. Dominic Duchesneau of IHIT.

The Integrated Homicide Investigative Team is looking into what took the life of a Burnaby woman in her 60s on Monday.

Burnaby RCMP were called to Capitol Manor Apartments in the 4900 block of Hastings Street at 4:30 p.m. after reports of a dead woman inside an apartment.

Investigators say they’re at the early stages of this investigation and are trying to determine how she died.

Forensic teams spent much of the night collecting evidence from the scene.

No suspects have been arrested, and the victim’s name has not been released.
