Will the Canadian government compensate victims of thalidomide?

In the 1960′s, Canada approved the drug thalidomide, and more than 100 babies were born with missing limbs and other severe deformities. During Question Period in the House of Commons, the government was asked whether they would support a motion seeking to grant financial compensation to the victims of thalidomide poisoning?
