CEGEP John Abbott College Visual Arts Program VernissageEvery year the graduating students of the Visual Arts Program at John Abbott College put together an exhibition of their best work. In their final semester of study, students work closely with faculty and technicians to develop their own creative studio projects. Building on the knowledge gained in various disciplines including painting, drawing, print making, sculpture, and electronic media, students are guided through the planning, research and creation of advanced independent artwork. Upon completion of their projects, students choose their best works to be included in the exhibition. All students participate in the preparation and installation of the graduation exhibition. This process introduces them to all the steps involved in organizing a professional public exhibition of their work. With the help of faculty and technicians, students prepare the walls, set up lighting and solve spatial problems related to the placement and hanging of works in the gallery. The vernissage is a time for celebrating our graduating students’ accomplishments. This special evening is often the first time students show their work in pubic. Parents, family and friends are invited to come appreciate and discuss the artwork in this celebratory setting. We are proud to exhibit the ambitious works of our graduating students. It is an important event for the Visual Arts Program and for these young artists. We hope you enjoy the show.OtherMay 5 - May 9
