POLAR DIP – To Fight Human Trafficking.  Take The Plunge!!!  Check us out on Facebook!!!

Once again brave young people are jumping into the icy water to help raise money and awareness for an important cause. Our event will be high energy and fun, with lots of splashes and laughs. We will also touch briefly on the realities of human trafficking in our world.

Human trafficking is a major global issue. There is an estimated 35.9 million men, women and children around the world currently in some form of modern day slavery. From whole families in India forced to make bricks for 18 hours a day, to children being sold into the prostitution industry in Cambodia, to vulnerable young Canadian girls being pimped out in Saskatoon hotels. The Polar Dip is about raising awareness of these terrible injustices and raising money to support organizations that do effective work in stopping human trafficking. All funds raised will go to International Justice Mission and Hope Restored Canada.

International Justice Mission is an organization that formed to address human rights issues in the developing world. They work around the world rescuing victims of human trafficking and ensuring that traffickers face serious penalties for their crimes, penalties which are a powerful deterrent against future trafficking. They address other human rights issues as well. http://www.IJM.ca

Hope Restored Canada is a new organization that has formed here in Saskatchewan to address the issue of Human Trafficking in our own province. They are planning to open a safehouse to help victims of human trafficking as well as do outreach and education/awareness to help stop this exploitation from continuing. http://www.hoperestoredcanada.org
