Sarah Ryan
Digital Journalist

Sarah Ryan (née Kraus) is a Global Edmonton reporter who you’ll often find covering stories at the courthouse or at a crime scene.

She also fills in on the assignment desk and in 2023, can occasionally be seen at the anchor desk.

After earning a double major in Journalism and Environmental Sustainability from the University of King’s College in Halifax, she began her broadcast career at Global Edmonton in 2012, where she worked behind the scenes before deciding she wanted to get out in the community and share people’s stories.

Sarah became a reporter CJDC TV in Dawson Creek, BC, where she juggled reporting, anchoring sports, and providing weather forecasts. She then worked at CHAT News in Medicine Hat, Global Regina and then back to Global Edmonton in 2015.

Sarah has covered stories that tug at the heartstring. She spent a week in La Loche covering the mass shooting in 2016 and later that year worked long hours helping inform residents about the Fort McMurray wildfire.

Sarah was Global Edmonton’s city hall reporter in 2021, covering the municipal election and was the first reporter to interview the city’s new mayor, Amarjeet Sohi.

When she’s not interviewing newsmakers, Sarah can be found walking her rescue dogs Ruth and Isabelle at the city’s off-leash parks, volunteering for local charities, or sneaking out of the city to go camping, hiking or skiing.
