John Hua
Supervisor Reporter
As the Supervisor Reporter at Global BC, John serves his community and hometown by covering the stories that matter to British Columbians and giving a voice to those who are struggling to be heard.
A recipient of a Canadian Screen Award for Best Reportage, John has also been recognized for his creative storytelling and investigative reporting by the Edward R. Murrow Awards, RTDNA and Jack Webster Awards.
John caught the journalism bug while working as an editor at the Ubyssey newspaper, at UBC. He went on to graduate from the Master of Journalism program at Carleton University.
Throughout his career, John has delivered leading local, regional, and national news coverage from the attack on the National War Memorial and Parliament Hill to B.C.’s casino money-laundering scandal which led to a provincial inquiry.
When he’s not working, John enjoys spending time with his family at one of his favourite local spots, Golden Ears Provincial Park. In the winter, he spends time playing pickup hockey and shredding powder on a snowboard.
