Blake Lough
Anchor

Blake Lough anchors Calgary’s most-watched morning news show, Global News Morning, weekdays from 5-9 a.m.

On the morning show, Blake is passionate about showcasing the incredible organizations and events Calgary has to offer and has regularly interviewed community builders and newsmakers such as Billy Boyd, Lou Ferrigno and Rick Mercer.

Born and raised in the Ottawa Valley, Blake studied broadcast journalism at Niagara College in southern Ontario before moving west in 2014.

Blake has won multiple national and international awards for his storytelling, including two Dave Rogers RTDNA awards for long and short form stories, as well as the Edward R. Murrow Award for Best Television Feature for his report on a long-sought after monument to honour the lives lost in the 1986 Swift Current Broncos bus crash.

Since joining Global Calgary, Blake has brought Calgarians the news of the day from the field as a reporter, and from the news desk as the anchor of Global News at 11 and Global News Morning Weekend. He has been a regular contributor to special broadcasts such as the 2019 and 2023 Alberta General Elections and has been first on the scene at major breaking news stories, such as the 2023 wildfire threatening communities in central Alberta and the 2022 mass stabbings and subsequent manhunt in Saskatchewan.

When he’s not anchoring the news, Blake can be found reading, playing guitar, working to improve his golf game or exploring the Rocky Mountains with his wife and dog Bowzer.
